Erwin “Erv” C. Lemke, 92, of Barrington, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 11, 2015, at home.
He was born on November 20, 1922, to John and Ella Lemke in Wheeling, IL. Erv was raised on a family farm, and continued farming on a part time basis while becoming an electrician as an adult. He was a proud member of the Illinois Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 55 years.
Faith in God was an integral part of Erv’s life, actively serving his church in many capacities. An avid woodworker, Erv enjoyed making gifts for family and friends.
Erv is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Bernice Lemke; children, Gerald (Martha) Lemke, Robert E. (Catherine) Lemke, and Lori (Joseph) Quinn; grandchildren, Marie Lemke, Jennifer Lemke, Matthew (Claire) Lemke, Scott (Angela) Lemke, Dawn Lemke, Robert K. Lemke, Elizabeth (Matthew) Meyer, Timothy Quinn, and Daniel Quinn; great grandchildren, Giselle, Maxwell, Fiona, Violet, and Nazareth; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Lemke; brothers, Edwin Lemke, Herbert Lemke, and Martin Lemke.
Visitation will be held from 4-9p.m., Wednesday, April 15, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 720 Dundee Ave., Barrington, IL 60010.
Visitation will continue from 10a.m., until the funeral service at 11a.m., Thursday, April 16, at church.
Burial will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights, following the funeral.
