Esther Maye Kane

Esther Maye Kane, of Chicago, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 13, 2021 at the age of 90.

She was born March 27, 1931 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of the late Joseph Riff and Mabel McCarty.

Esther was the loving wife of the late Thomas Michael Kane; beloved mother of Tim (Jeanine), Shawn, the late Tom, Daniel, Patrick (Marianne) and Deirdre (John) Kelly; cherished grandma of Ryan, James, Katie, Maggie, Annie, Amanda, Thomas, Liam, Mollyrose, Bonnie and Seamus; loving great-grandma of Kylie, Mirarose, David, Matilda, and Louis; and loving sister of the late Mickey Jacobs and Annette Kohl.

Esther had many hobbies including pottery, making lamp shades, weaving, glass blowing, gardening, quilting, doll making, cross stitching, was an avid reader, haberdasher, collector of treasures, loved feeding the rabbits in the backyard and bird watching. Above all, Esther cherished her family.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 17, at 11:00 a.m. at Maryhill Catholic Cemetery, 8600 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL 60714, Grave 8, Lot 35, Block 7, Section 4. All are welcome to attend.
