Ethel McCarthy

Ethel McCarthy, 95, of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 9, 2017 in Woodstock. She was born May 1, 1921 in Chicago to Arthur and Margaret (nee McKeon) Beening.
Ethel enjoyed baking, sewing and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed puzzles, crosswords and reading in her spare time.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Len) Korn, Susan (Dave) Hattas, Linda (Joe) Basgall, John (Mary) McCarthy, Mark (the late Kathleen) McCarthy, Richard (Karen) McCarthy, and Michael (Marilyn) McCarthy; 25 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman McCarthy, whom she married on June 10, 1944 in Chicago; her son, Patrick McCarthy; her brother, Arthur Beening; and her parents.
The family will receive guests from 3-8pm, Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL. A visitation will be held from 10am until time of funeral Mass at 11am, Thursday, January 19, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, 1023 McHenry Ave., Crystal Lake, IL. Burial will take place at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
