Eugene “Gene” A. Boyle, age 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 28, 2025.
Gene is survived by his loving children, Geno (Kathryn) Boyle, Lynn (Jay) Nimrod, and Kevin (Laura) Boyle; grandchildren, Laura (Mike DeGrace), Alex (Tash), Owen, Quinn, Katie, Maggie, and Nora Boyle, and Joe and Jack Nimrod; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Aiden Boyle, and Hunter DeGrace; and loving brother, Tim (Pat) Boyle.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Suzanne Boyle; parents, Eugene A. and Elizabeth H. Boyle; siblings, Betty Rivet, Paddy Anderson, and Denny McGinnis.
Gene was born and raised on the north side of Chicago, and after graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 1959 with a degree in finance, he served his country honorably as a counter-intelligence officer in the U.S. Army for two years before returning to Chicago to embark on a career in banking. He later worked for Morgan Stanley in the wealth management field. He spent his retirement doing the things he loved the most – spending time with his family, travelling, going to the opera, fishing, reading, and rooting for the Fighting Irish, the Chicago Cubs, and yes, the Green Bay Packers. He was a devoted husband to “Suzie,” his wife of 50 years, and a long time parishioner at the St. Anne Catholic Community, where he quietly, faithfully, and tirelessly served in various parish ministries.
A visitation for Gene will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at St. Anne Catholic Community, 120 Ela St., Barrington, IL 60010 from 9am until the time of mass at 10:30am. Burial to follow at All Saints Catholic Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gene’s name may be made to St. Anne Catholic Community.
