Evelyn Fischer

Evelyn “Evie” Fischer, 85, of Crystal Lake went home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 7, 2016. She was born in Chicago on November 11, 1930 to Harvey and Clara Cole.

On February 4, 1950 she married the love of her life, Norman Fischer. They were married 58 years before his passing in 2008.

Evie was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for 66 years, teaching Sunday school and volunteering in many different areas. She enjoyed reading, bible studies, socializing, and trivia competitions and loved sending cards to people for special occasions. Evie worked for Oak Manufacturing for many years.

She was very proud of her grandchildren, Lisa Viets, Ann (Rob) Schultz, Lucas Ridge, Melanie Fischer, Daniel Fischer, and Lauren (Alex) Peacher, and her great grandchildren, Brandy, Lorenzo, Miriam, Moses, Kyrsten, Chloe, Reagan, and Noah. She will also be sadly missed by her children, Norma (Marty) Viets and Randy (Beth) Fischer; son-in-law, Joel Ridge; close family, Laine (Jim) Knudsen, Lorraine Mulcahy, Edwin Fischer, and Bud Hohs; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and the Immanuel family and LePetit Marche family.

Besides her husband and parents, Evie was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Ridge and infant boys, Roy and Ricky.

Visitation will be Friday, May 13 from 5pm until 8pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake. The funeral will take place at 11am Saturday, May 14 at Immanuel Lutheran Church - Historic Campus, 178 McHenry Ave, Crystal Lake, with time of visitation starting at 10am. Burial will follow at McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock.
