Florence Craighead

Florence Craighead, 93, of Woodstock, passed away Friday, October 12, 2018.

She was born September 9, 1925 in Evanston, the daughter of the late Fred and Florence (nee Baumhardt) Miller.

For over 20 years, Florence was employed as a bookkeeper for School District 21 in Wheeling. In retirement, she was president of the Babson Park, Florida Women’s Club. In her spare time, she volunteered with hospitals, enjoyed reading and baking. Mostly, Florence loved being a doting grandmother to her grandkids.

Florence is survived by her children, Gregory (Judy) Craighead, Thomas (Kelly) Craighead and JoAnn (James) Hourigan; her grandchildren, Geoffrey, Benjamin(Morgan), Matthew, Katelyn, John, and David Craighead, Ryan and Robert Hourigan; her great-grandchildren, Jack, Chase, Wylie, Max and Elsheday; and her brother, James Miller.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Craighead; son, William; brother, Fred and sister, Marilyn.

Friends are welcome to visit with Florence’s family on Thursday, October 18, from 4-7 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake. Visiting will continue the follow day, Friday, October 19 from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
