Francisco “Frank/Ikoy” Ramos, 94, of Lake in the Hills, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014.
Born June 6, 1920 in Bucal Maragondon, Cavite, Philippines, he was the son of Baldomero and Isabel (Bailoses) Ramos. He was united in marriage to Leonora Dela Cruz-Ramos on March 1, 1948.
Frank obtained his Associates Degree in Electronics Communication and served in the Philippines as a Wire Chief of the United States Army, during World War II, and operated the switchboard as part of the Signal Corps.
Being a hard working family man, Frank eventually retired and enjoyed his life to the fullest with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He found happiness in the simplest of things like doing handy-man work at home. And, he was well loved by many.
Frank is survived by his cherished sons, Art Ramos of Huntley, IL, Ernesto Ramos of Elgin, IL, Rolando Ramos of Elgin, IL, Romeo Ramos of Lake in the Hills, IL; his precious daughters, Norma Ramos-Arandela of Crystal Lake, IL, Corazon Ramos-Lanz of Zurich, Switzerland, Zenaida Ramos-Padilla of Winnetka, CA, Edna Ramos-Luceno of Elgin, IL, Myrna Ramos-Guedel of Zurich, Switzerland, and Celia Ramos-Ujano of Bolingbrook, IL; 24 grandchildren; and 8 great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Lodovico Ramos, and his parents.
The visitation for Frank will be from 4:00pm-8:00pm on Wednesday, June 11th and will be exclusive for his family. It will be followed by a second day visitation from 2:00pm-8:00pm on Thursday, June 12th. These will be held at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rte 176), Crystal Lake.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 13th starting at 10:00am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 1023 McHenry Ave, Crystal Lake. The service will be officiated by Fr. Joel Lopez. Internment will follow at Windridge Memorial Park, 7014 S Rawson Bridge Rd. Cary, IL.
