Lake Barrington, Illinois,A memorial service for Frank Oscar Ekman will be held at St. Mark?s Episcopal Church in Barrington Hills at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 20 2010. Dr. Ekman worked in air pollution control and lived in the Barrington area for 43 years. He was born in 1917 in London, England and was raised on a farm near Telkwa, British Columbia, Canada. He received a B.A. from the University of British Columbia and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in chemical engineering. He passed away peacefully on April 13, 2010, at Lake Barrington Woods. He is survived by Paulene, his wife of 64 years, his sister, Gladys Anderson, of British Columbia, three children, Frances (Edward) Sundmaker of Elgin, Susan (Michael) Healy of Colorado, and Peter (Uliana) Ekman of Pennsylvania, and two grandchildren, Caitlin and Connor Healy of Colorado.
