Gary Dale Valentine passed away at his home in Ft. Meyers, Florida on Sunday, December 17, 2017.
He was born December 23, 1933. Raised in Toledo, Ohio, Gary was a graduate of Devilbis High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Toledo. While in college he was an active member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.

Following graduation, he served in the US Army based in Ft. Knox. He was a Company Commander and was honorably discharged with the rank of 1st LT. In 1958 he began employment at Surface Combustion in the sales division of Kathabar. His career spanned 30 years with assignments in Toledo, San Francisco and Chicago. Gary was a lifetime member of ASHRAE and was highly respected in his field.
Gary loved fast cars, boats and motorcycling with his sons. He also enjoyed traveling with Pat, his wife of 62 years. Visits to Europe and cruises were his favorite retirement activities.
Gary is survived by his wife and constant companion, Pat; his sons, Mark (Linda), Michael (Ellen), Timothy, and daughter-in-law, Susan; his grandchildren, Erin Valentine, Derek (Renee) Valentine, David (Shawn) Valentine, Lindsey (Fred) Martinez, Laura Valentine, Brittany Valentine, Brooke Valentine and Sean Valentine; his great-grandchildren, Trevon, Haley, Lexi, and Maddie; and his brother, Allan (Charlotte) Valentine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aileen and Dale Valentine; and his youngest son, Patrick.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 22, from 9.m until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 410 N First St., Cary, with burial to follow at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
