Born June 22, 1943, Gene V. Glendinning died peacefully October 8, 2014 in Barrington, Illinois. Surrounded by love, Gene spent his last year fighting cancer. He is survived by his sister, Claudette, two nephews, his three children, Brent, Allison, Kevin, five grandchildren, and long-time partner, Ann Ryan.
Raised in Chicago, Gene studied journalism at Bradley University and traveled internationally for a career in advertising sales. He was passionate about history, trains, and model railroading. In 2002 Gene published a book chronicling The Chicago & Alton Railroad.
Gene was loyal to his community, serving on the local planning commission and active in statewide politics. Described as a true gentleman, Gene was devoted to his family, The White Sox, and Frank Sinatra.
