Genevieve Pfeiffer

Genevieve Edith Pfeiffer, of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at The Fountains at the age of 95.

She was born September 3, 1920 in Lebanon, Indiana to Lloyd Thomas and Edith B. (nee Partner) Sicks.

Genevieve was dedicated to many organizations including the Northern Illinois Airstream Unit for 40 years, Kishwaukee chapter DAR, 4H leader, and a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church belonging to many of their organizations. She traveled to all 50 states and 6 continents. She also enjoyed playing cards and games with family and friends.

Genevieve is survived by her 6 daughters, Mary Lou (Jerry) Cristy of Crystal Lake, Patsy (the late John) Commons of Dixon, IL, Nancy (Thorsten) Fjellstedt of Chapel Hill, NC, Dorothy (the late Warren) Derrick of Leesburg, FL, Tommy Sue (Samuel) Stone of Hickory Corners, MI, and Judy (John) Reichert of Crystal Lake; her grandchildren, Leeann (Steven) Slack, Sandra (Kevin) Kinahan, Steven (Carol) Commons, Jennifer (Shane Farstar) Ferris, Anders (Lyndsey) Fjellstedt, Gwendolyn Pertell, Carolyn (Sean) Hand, Nathan (Stacie) Stone, Eric (Amy) Stone, Gavin Stone, Rebecca (Erin) Aslakson, Zachery (Erin) Reichert, Andrew (Kristen) Reichert; her 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Ernest (the late Irene) Sicks.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William on March 3, 1996; grandchildren, William Commons and Thorsten Fjellstedt; great-grandchild, Steven Commons; and sister, Major Mary Sicks.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff of The Fountains and Genevieve’s caregiver, Ruby Padua.

The visitation will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Historic Campus, 178 McHenry Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Burial will follow at Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
