Geoffrey William Odean

Geoffrey William Odean, 69, of Crystal Lake passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024. He was born on August 20, 1954 to William and Jeanette Odean in Oak Park, IL.

Geoff was well known for his boisterous and charismatic personality, and was quite the entertainer. For many years Geoff worked as a bartender taking great pride in mixing the perfect cocktail and using his gift of gab to amuse patrons. For over a decade Geoff also worked with Horizons for the Blind lending his rich voice and other talents to improve the quality of life for the blind and visually impaired.

Geoff had numerous hobbies. Geoff loved being active, earning his black belt in karate in 1979. He had a passion for music, particularly the Grateful Dead, and loved to attend live performances. He also loved singing, whether it be at family barbeques or karaoke, a favorite pastime. Geoff enjoyed the outdoors, and was an avid cyclist who delighted in photographing wildlife. Above all he was a supportive father who was immensely proud of his children, whom he loved unconditionally. He cherished his time with his grandchildren, reading stories, having sleepovers, watching movies, and playing video games.

Geoff is survived by his father, William Odean; his children, Ian (Jennifer) Sorenson, Sashire (Jeremy) Ayares, and bonus son, Joe Salvaggio; his grandchildren, Fletcher, Logan, Aiden, Arlo, Leo, and Niko; his siblings, Martin (Odette) Odean, Richard Odean, and Holly (Bryan) Carpenter; and his cousins, Jill (Mike) Gorgas, Gail Bellon, Sandy (Dan) Chmura, Hank Dautel, Rudy (Eileen) Bellon, Ron (Cindi) Dautel, Cheryl Burke, Blane Vontin, Christy (Robert) Rubin, Wendy Vontin, Cindy (Keith) Gosting, Ben (Oana) Odean, Russ (Amy) Odean.
