George W. Goelz,87, of Barrington, IL, passed away, Saturday, April 14, 2012.
He was born on June 21,1924, to Roswell and Eleanor Goelz in Chicago.
George was a WW II veteran, serving in the Army. He was a member of St. Matthews church of Barrington, the American Legion Tattler Post, and a lifetime member of the local VFW. George frequently enjoyed times spent at the Villa Bleu restaurant in Fox River Grove.
George is survived by his sister, Dorothy Farrell, step-children, Sandra (Jacque) Cribb, Duke (Patricia) Hegna and Alan Johnson; grandchildren, DeeAnna, Eric, Janet, Paul, Christine, Jason, Tara, Chad, Christopher and Kelly; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; nieces, Kathleen, Sandra, Nancy, Eileen and Donna; nephews, Robert, William, Richard, James and Edward; eight great nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Goelz; brothers, Robert, Edward and Roswell Goelz, and his parents.
Visitation will be held from 3-7p.m., Tuesday, April 17,2012, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street, Barrington, IL 60010, funeral service, 7p.m., at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, 17th Ave. Rt. 1, Almena WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthews Church, 720 Dundee Ave., Barrington, IL 60010.
