George A. Pontarelli,82, of Crystal Lake, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011.
He was born February 22,1929, in Chicago to Harry and Maria Pontarelli.
He worked many years for the City of Chicago in the water department.
George is survived by his wife, Norine; his children, Mary (David) Vaverek, James (Kimberly) Pontarelli; his grandchildren, Bryan (Amber) Vaverek and Carolyn (Austin) O’Connor; his siblings, Lucy (George) Kouba, Olympia Savagilo and Harry (Pat) Pontarelli; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Maria Pontarelli; his two daughters, Carol and Catherine Pontarelli; one brother, Dominic Pontarelli and his brother-in-law, Sam Savagilo.
Memorial visitation will be from 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, until the time of Mass at 11 a.m., at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 451 W. Terra cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake. Monsignor Daniel Hermes will officiate. Inurnment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to St. Thomas Outreach, 272 King, Crystal Lake IL 60014.
