Georgene P. Farman

Georgene P. Farman (nee Poole), age 81, of Inverness, IL passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 2, 2024.

Georgene was born in the Chicagoland area on March 19, 1943. Georgene grew up in Arlington Heights and attended Prospect High School in Mount Prospect, graduating in 1961. She attended Northwestern University in Evanston, and was initiated into Beta Gamma Sigma, an honorary business fraternity, and graduated in 1965. After graduation, she worked for her family’s local auto dealership for quite some time and learned the ins and outs of business. Georgene spent many summers in Lake Geneva with her relatives, which remained a special place in her heart. Georgene moved to San Diego for a few years and enjoyed living there but missed her family, so she relocated back to Chicagoland. While she grew up knowing Guy Farman and his family, the two did not fall in love until later in life. Guy and Georgene got married locally and her business knowledge became useful as Guy’s family owned and operated a hotel and restaurant in Lake Zurich, Farman Hotel. After they sold the hotel, she went back to school for liturgical studies. This led to a passion for volunteering, where she spent a lot of time at St. Anne’s and eventually, they asked her to come on staff as Associate Director of Liturgy. She loved being part of the St. Anne’s community and developed many friendships. Georgene was an icon at St. Anne’s. After retiring, she enjoyed life with her family and friends.

Georgene is survived by her dear family, Mary Howard, Tim Howard, Joey Howard (Kim), Chris Howard (Olivia) and she was a beloved aunt to Charlotte, Ava and Addision Howard. Additionally, she had close friends she also considered family such as her Godson Desmond Cooney, Pat and Dan Evasink and many more special friends. 

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, Guy Farman; parents, George and Marian Poole; Mother-in-Law, Hazel Farman, Tim Howard, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who were dear to her. 

A visitation for Georgene will be held from 9:30am until the time of mass at 10:30am on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Saint Anne Catholic Church, 120 Ela St., Barrington, IL. A burial will take place at 1pm on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Ridgewood Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Georgene’s name may be made to any organizations dealing with animals or music, or in honor of her belief in Catholic Education/Scholarship Funds, for students and families in need and wanting to attend St. Anne Catholic School, the Father Bernie Pietrzak Scholarship Fund.
