Fun and funny Gerald (Jerry) Hage age 65 of Crystal Lake died Sunday, May 27th surrounded by an audience of admirers.

Jerry has adored his wife Alison Thomas Hage since he was 20 years old. They enjoyed a lively, loving laugh- and song-filled life together. Sons John and Martin added to the family fun and Jerry never missed a chance to be a part of their adventures. He was always a hands-on dad. Granddaughter Mia Hage was truly the apple of Jerry’s eye. He loved cooking with her, teaching her anything and forcing her to listen to music he loved. Actually, he liked doing those things with just about anyone.

Jerry made friends wherever he went with his quick wit and relaxed attitude. His fellow dads and golf buddies Stiles, Russ, Steve and Mike were favorite companions. The Meredith, Baker and King families were his extended family. Each adult and child has many happy memories of Jerry at the beach, camping, or the many shared life events through the years. He loved all the kids and would do anything for them.

Jerry was able to couple his love of science with his personality to be successful in the business world. He developed personal relationships with customers and colleagues.

Jerry discovered a love for performing in his 40s. His natural comedic talents, high tenor and ability to feel deeply led to many memorable theatrical roles and productions. Jerry was happy to work backstage as well. Jerry was a favorite of the White Pines Dinner Theater audiences and loved performing at the Woodstock Opera House. He made many wonderful friends in the caring theater community.

Jerry grew up in Normal, Il with his four brothers: Ron, Roger, Bruce and Robert (he sat happily in the middle). He attended the university schools graduating with a masters in Organic Chemistry. Jerry constantly was involved with sports but preferred baseball. He was a national champion bowler in college (and pretty good at pinball too). He met Alison at ISU and they spent lots of time having fun and laughs with Rhea and Larry Metcalf.

Son Martin describes his dad as a true renaissance man, good at everything he tried. He had just taken up oil painting. To say he will be missed is an understatement. He is leaving a gigantic void in the lives of many.

A memorial, Jerry Jubilation, will be held on Thursday, June 14 from 7pm- 8:30pm at Main Beach Pavilion in Crystal Lake.
