Gerald “Gerry” Kraemer, 65, of Barrington passed away peacefully on January 25, 2017. He was born on October 23, 1951 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Frank and Theodora Kraemer.
He graduated from Rutgers University and worked at Colgate Palmolive for 30 years until his retirement. During retirement, he continued with his love for wine by working as an importer and consultant. Gerald enjoyed spending his summers in Cape May, NJ and working at the Cape May Winery. He was an avid supporter of the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts, Cape May Stage, and member of the Cape May Cottagers’ Association. He spent his winters in Barrington, IL watching his Philadelphia Eagles and Flyers continue to disappoint him. He was a proud Eucharistic minister at St. Anne Roman Catholic Church. He was known amongst his family and friends for a glass of wine and a good story. His gregarious laugh was known to be contagious. He was the most loved husband, dad, brother, and best friend to many.
Devoted husband of 42 years to Patricia, nee Mojta; loving father of John-Francis Kraemer; dear brother of Robert (Sharon), Timothy (Deb), Marianne and Susan Kraemer; step-son of Marie Kraemer. He is also survived by his extended family: John (the late Debbie) Mojta, Marie (John) Miller, Terri (Steve) Shore, and by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 29, 2017, from 3 until 7 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook), Barrington, IL. Visitation will resume Monday, January 30 from 10 AM until the Funeral Mass at 11 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 N. Ela St. (Corner of Franklin and Ela Sts.), Barrington , IL. Interment will be private.
