Gerald “Jerry” R. Taylor, 72, of Crystal Lake, IL passed away January 13, 2017. He was born on October 27, 1944 in Alameda, CA to W. Ray and Virginia (nee Wright) Taylor.
Jerry grew up in Arenzville, IL and graduated from Triopia High School. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of a Purple Heart. He worked most of his life in the automobile industry and also worked as an auctioneer. He lived for many years in both Loveland, CO and Groveland, IL. Jerry loved his family, playing checkers or Texas Hold’em, the St. Louis Cardinals and a good ‘Old Fashioned’. He always had a funny story to tell and his sense of humor and quick wit will be missed by many.
Jerry is survived by two daughters, Tamara (Michael) Bielfeldt and Crystal Taylor; one son, Kyle Taylor; twelve grandchildren, Anastasia, Hayley, Zeke, Olivia, Seth, Dillon, Nicole, Kelly, Josh, Katy, Kylie and Kendra; four great grandchildren, Taylor, Logan, Carter and Liam; a sister, Burlene; a brother, Randy; a son-in-law, Karl “Skip” Schneider; step mother, Margaret Taylor; and last but not least, his beloved little dog, Buckwheat.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Teresa Schneider; a granddaughter, Shawntae Taylor; and four brothers, Don, Keith, Ronnie and Corby.
He was also loved by many, many nieces and nephews.
There will be a gathering of friends and family, Sunday, January 22 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at The Fountains, 965 N. Brighton Circle, Crystal Lake, IL.
There will be a visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, January 28th at East Lawn Funeral Home; 1102 Airport Road, Bloomington, IL followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 3:00 pm.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Care4 Breast Cancer; 401 E. Congress; Crystal Lake, IL 60014 in memory of his daughter, Teresa Schneider.
