Geraldine McKenna

Geraldine “Jerri” McKenna, of Cary, passed away surrounded by her loving family at Three Oaks Assisted Living on Friday, June 24, 2016 at the age of 84. She was born September 9, 1931 in Chicago to Matthew and Lillian (nee Janiszewski) Bednarz.

Jerri loved her family above all else. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Jerri will be dearly missed by her children, Terry (Laura) McKenna, Kathleen (Gerry) King, and Tom (Trish) McKenna; her cherished grandchildren, Mark (Jordan), Megan, Michael, William, Amanda, Autumn, and Ryan; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Krystal and Leiana.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Norma (Raymond) Chudd; brothers, Ernie and Vernon Bednarz; and significant other and love of her life for almost 30 years, Harvey Stensberg.

The family extends special thanks and gratitude to the loving staff of Three Oaks Assisted Living in Cary.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 27, from 4-8 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave. (IL Rte 176) Crystal Lake. Prayers will be held the following day, Tuesday, June 28 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by procession to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
