Geraldine Morehead

McHenry, Illinois,Geraldine "Geri" Ann Morehead, of McHenry, died peacefully on her 85th birthday at Hospice of Northeastern Illinois in Woodstock. She was born August 10 1925, in Sun Prairie, WI; the youngest of thirteen children to the late Louis and Mary Schuster. In 1951 she married Robert O. Morehead and spent the next 59 years raising their five children. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and served as the president of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women in Johnson City, TN. She also stayed involved in her children?s lives as a Cub Scout Den Leader, a Girl Scout Leader and on the PTO with Holy Family School in Rockford. For the last 10 years, she and her husband attended St. Thomas the Apostle Church of Crystal Lake. Besides her family and church, her other passion was bridge. She played as often as she could and was able to attain the goal of Life Master. She will be missed by her husband, Robert; her children, William (Vikki), Patrick, Philip (Jo), Jane (Lee) McConnell, and James (Theresa); her grandchildren, Vince Marques, Kyle Ambroso, Beckyjo Bourgeois, Caitlyn and Kristen McConnell, Robert, Elizabeth, Michael and Luke Morehead; her great-grandson, Nicolas Marques; siblings, Dorothy Callies of Sun Prairie and Msgr. Wilfred Schuster of Madison, WI; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Morehead; her siblings, Rudy, Francis, Nora, Sister Valerian, Wenzell, Father Valery, and Louis Schuster, Mary Fiscus and Antoinette Klein. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m., Friday, August 13, 2010, at the Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 14, 2010, at 1 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Burial will be in Crystal Lake Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mrs. Morehead?s name may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle School, 272 King St., Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
