Gerda Johanne Kristensen

Gerda Johanne Kristensen, of Crystal Lake, born November 17, 1926 in Elsted, Denmark to the late Hans Peter and Marie Elisabeth Hansen, Gerda passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the age of 90.

Gerda immigrated with her family to the United States in 1956 and moved to Crystal Lake in 1958. After retiring from Montgomery Ward, Gerda volunteered for many years with the Auxiliary of Sherman Hospital and with Bethany Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake. Gerda was a talented seamstress, crafter, knitter and cook. She was a beloved grandmother to her many grandchildren.

Gerda was a loving mother to her children, Anita (Tuck) Thompson of Crystal Lake and Hans (Dawn) Kristensen of Crystal Lake; beloved grandmother of Jeff (Kristen) Kristensen of Chicago, Thomas (Mindy) Kristensen of Westville, IN, Ryan (Shelly) Kristensen of Rio Rancho, N.M., Brian Thompson and Melanie Thompson of Crystal Lake; cherished great-grandmother to Maeve, Claire, Lexi, Luke and Keegan Kristensen, Mya and Skyler Breaux-Hansen; loving sister to Asta (the late Poul) Pedersen; and aunt to Elsebeth and Birgitte of Denmark.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andreas Kristensen in 1981; and her son, Ole Kristensen in 2006.

Memorial visitation will be held from 10am until time of memorial service at 11am, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
