Gertrude E. Deithloff

Gertrude Deithloff, 98, passed away on September 7, 2017 at JourneyCare in Woodstock after a brief illness. She was born on December 10, 1918 in Harvard, IL.
Gertrude is survived by her only daughter, Shirley (Jack) Teetsov and her granddaughters, Lee Anne (Ralph Clatterbuck) Fredericks and Susan (Steve) Wegner.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Everett Whaples and her parents, Elizabeth and Richard Whaples.
Gertrude lived independently at her home in Crystal Lake for over 50 years. She worked over 45 years at the Strand Dress Factory. Gertrude enjoyed tending to her gardens of spectacular peonies and "surprise" lilies. She fed her birds, bunnies and chipmunks everyday keeping notes about the weather and visitors on her wildlife calendars. Gertrude had a remarkably positive outlook on life. Each day she would make her bed, patrol her yard and welcome visitors. September was her favorite month. Gertrude was a loving presence to her family and friends.
