Gertrude Wegleiz

Gertrude "Trudy" V. Wegleiz, 84, of Crystal Lake passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Crystal Pines Nursing Home. On January 18, 1926 she was born to Carl and Lillian (Weiberg) Henschel in Walworth, WI. She grew up in the Walworth area and was raised by her mother and step-father, Edgar Cates. She graduated from Walworth High School. On February 17, 1945 she was united in marriage to Frank Wegleiz in Hebron, IL. Trudy enjoyed being a homemaker and was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and The Martha Ladies Church Group. Her survivors include her son, James (Judi) Wegleiz of Knoxville, TN; her daughters, Jane Thompson of Crystal Lake and Shirley (Ken) Koehler of Crystal Lake; her grandchildren, Belinda, James II, John, Thomas, Steve, Keri, Kristopher, Kathleen, Debra, Jenny, Thomas II, and Wendy; her great grandchildren, Emmett, Owen, Ella, Isabella, Lilly, Britney, Emily, and Jocylyn; her sister, Jeanette Retzloff; and her brother Ken (Diane) Cates. Preceding her in death were her mother, her step-father, her father, her husband, her sons, Jerold and Thomas Wegleiz, her granddaughter Sherry Wegleiz, her sister Jackie Reece, and her brother, Edgar Cates. The service for Trudy will be private; interment will be in Cobblestone Cemetery, Walworth WI.
