The funeral service for Gilbert P. Wawak, 93, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 1, at the Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington. There will be visitation from 10:30 a.m., until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Mount Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst.

Born May 26, 1920, in Elmhurst, to the late William and Anna (nee Fink) Wawak, Mr. Wawak passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014, at his home.

Survivors include his children, Susanne (William) Gay of Menomonee Falls, WI, Carla Wawak of Cody, WY, and Paul (Susan Lueders) Wawak of Mequon, WI; stepchildren, Brad (Carol) Steele, Brynn (Bob) Cox, and Bart Steele; grandchildren, Alissa (Bradd) Mosal, David (Jacquelyn) Gay, and Austin Wawak; great-grandsons, Darren and Zachary Mosal; and sister-in-law, Mary Wawak.

Mr. Wawak was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Jane (nee Bader) Wawak and Betty (nee Schmidt) Steele Wawak; and siblings, William Wawak and Audrey Mueller Unertl.
