Ginger Marlene Anderson

Our beloved, Ginger Marlene Anderson (née Richter), 76, of Cary, Illinois, passed away on January 4, 2025. Ginger was born on November 9, 1948 to George and Erma Richter in Holcomb, Missouri.

She spent her childhood in Holcomb, Chicago, and Stevens Point, Wisconsin, graduating from Schurz High School in Chicago. She went on to receive a B.A. in education from Northeastern Illinois University, where she met her husband, John Anderson. They married in Des Plaines, Illinois, on April 22, 1972.

Ginger began her career on the west side of Chicago, where she taught middle school for eight years. Ginger stepped away from her career to raise her daughters, Kristin and Jessica, before returning to teaching at Cary Junior High School, where she remained for twenty years and had a significant and positive impact on countless students.

Ginger and John were active in several area Christian churches, most recently Harvest Bible Chapel in Crystal Lake, where they were regular attendees.

Ginger is survived by her husband, John; her children Kristin (Jason) Barickman and Jessica (Chris) Angelica; her grandchildren, August, Walter, and Lianna Barickman, and Rose and George Angelica; and her brother, Greg (Laura) Richter.

Ginger was a loyal and devoted spouse, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved fiercely and put everything she had into her marriage to John and the raising of her daughters. They will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Erma Lee Richter (née Perry) and father, George Richter.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, January 11, from 12 noon until a service at 2:30pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
