Glen Christensen

February 11, 1955 — July 18, 2016


Born in Chicago to Harry and Margaret, Glen passed away from his battle with cancer July 18, 2016 with his loving family by his side at the age of 61.

Glen’s Crystal Lake roots began as a bus boy at Crystal Lake Country Club where he ultimately became Executive Chef. He furthered his career as Executive Chef at Shoreacres Country Club in Lake Bluff. His talents allowed him to serve celebrities, professional athletes, national politicians, and royalty. Many local residents will remember Glen for his outstanding Chicken Piccata.

When he wasn’t working long hours, Glen spent his free time with family and friends; golfing, bowling, fishing, and wherever Glover took him.

Glen is survived by his loving wife, Beth; sons, Michael (Jen), and Kevin (Carrie); grandsons, Austin, Jacob, Colin, Billy, and Jack; sister, Gail (Tony), brother, Craig; many in-laws, dear nieces and nephews. Glen, “Bugsy”, “Rabbit”, “Big Papa” will be greatly missed by many dear friends. His personality and smile will never be forgotten. He will forever be in our hearts.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his older brother, Allen.

Friends are welcome to visit with Glen’s family on Wednesday, July 20 from 4-8 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (IL Rt 176) Crystal Lake. Visiting will continue the following day, Thursday, July 21, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, 76 W Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake.
