Glenn Otto Salava, 66, Of Crystal Lake.
Glenn was born November 8, 1952 in Urbana, IL. He passed away peacefully February 19, 2019 in Woodstock.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 44 years, April; sons, Andrew (Christie) Salava, and Matthew Salava; grandchildren, Bennett and Emma; mother, Irene Elftmann; and half-brothers, Owen and Luke (Alissa) Salava.
Glenn served his country in the US Navy from 1970-1974 on the U.S.S. Caliente in the Pacific Conflict of the Vietnam War. One month after discharge he married April Lynn Gratz on September 21, 1974 in San Leandro, CA.
Glenn enjoyed a variety of positions at Coilcraft, Inc. where he worked for 37 years. At different times in his life, Glenn was involved in bicycle racing, played a banjo that he built himself from a kit, restored a 1937 Desoto car, model railroading, and building structures for his wife’s garden.
Glenn was a generous man who chose to live modestly to be able to support the Lord’s work. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, March 30, at Grand Oaks Recreation Center, 9001 State Rt. 176, Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by a service and refreshments.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Bright Hope, 2060 Stonington Ave, Hoffman Estates, IL 60169.
