Services for Glenn A. Strebel, 42, of Barrington will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 13 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Rd.), Barrington. The Reverend Robert Moll will officiate. Born May 3, 1967 in Elgin, he passed away peacefully September 9, 2009 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. Interment will be private. Visitation from 3-9 p.m. Saturday, September 12 at the Funeral Home. A 1985 graduate of Streamwood High School, Glenn started working for the Village of Barrington as a full-time Firefighter/Paramedic on November 6, 1995. Glenn was promoted to the rank of Fire Lieutenant on January 3, 2000. Lt. Strebel was very active with the Lake County Dive Team and the Lake County Hazardous Materials Response Team. He served as the Barrington Fire Department Dive Master for a number of years. He was also very active in the Fire Prevention Bureau, performing fire inspections and plan reviews for residential sprinklers. Lt. Strebel also spearheaded the department?s fire and arson investigation team. Lt. Strebel retired from the Barrington Fire Department on September 2, 2008. He enjoyed golfing, swimming, cooking, and coaching his children?s sports teams. Survivors include his children, Joshua, Tori and Zachary Strebel; his father Charles; siblings, Jean, Chuck (Debbie), Debbie Miller, Linda (Gary) Larson, Kurt, Deeana and Colleen (Paul) Barousse, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Gallagher and a nephew Nicholas Warren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Glenn Strubel children?s Education Fund, C/O Chase Bank, 136 W.
