Glenne Mae (nee Winkoski) McMonigal, age 83, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, passed away suddenly on October 19, 2021 from natural causes.
Glenne was born January 1938 in Berlin, Wisconsin, to Edward and Mary (nee Wendt) Winkoski. She graduated from Berlin High School in 1956. She attended Marquette University and Beloit College.
In 1959, Glenne married her high school sweetheart Jim McMonigal. They celebrated 62 years together.
Jim and Glenne were blessed with three children, James Jr., Sean (Leann) and Lura (Greg) Jurrens; and four grandchildren, Shane and Brenna McMonigal, and Aiden and Abby Jurrens.
Glenne was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church for over 50 years, having served on its Advisory Council. She was also a CCD teacher.
In 1984, Glenne created Barrington Lifestyles news magazine and Crystal Lake Lifestyles a year later. She served as editor and publisher for 26 years.
Glenne was an ambassador of the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Barrington Breakfast Club, and a member of the Barrington Hills Book Club. She also served on the McHenry County Special Education Advisory Board.
Glenne was an ardent reader and especially fond of “cozy English mysteries.” She also loved to golf and play bridge.
Glenne was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Fred Winkoski. She is survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, on Thursday, Oct. 28, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, on Friday, Oct. 29, at 10 a.m.
