Funeral service for Gloria L. Keper (nee Hayden),84, formerly of Chicago, Des Plaines, Long Grove, IL and Shawano, WI will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W Main St. (Lake-Cook Rd), Barrington, where the family will be receiving friends from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
Born March 8, 1927 in Chicago, she passed away June 25 in Barrington, IL. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL.
Gloria was a homemaker but in her younger years, she worked as a Fred Harvey Girl and at Mar’s Candy in Chicago. Gloria enjoyed spending her summers in Wisconsin as well as cooking, gardening and crocheting. She loved animals especially little her dog, Gigi.
Survivors include her husband, Harry P. Keper, whom she married September 28, 1951 in Oak Park; children, Paul (Diane) Keper of Bloomingdale, Peter (Pat) Keper of Blackhawk, CO, David (Marla) Keper of Long Grove and Kim (Steven Allen) Keper of Barrington Hills; grandchildren, Kathleen (Mark) Tracey, James (Julie Maffitt) Keper, Leslie and Lainie Keper; great grandchildren, Zachary, Jeremy, Emily, Amanda, Madison and Morgan; a brother, Elmer (Shirley) Hayden, of Lisle; a sister, Carol (Dale) DeSoto of Niles; and nieces, Debi (Ed) Thomas and Heather (Colin) Castaing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Stella (Jodos) Hayden and Sophia Hayden.
