Godfrey Viegas

Celebration of Life Service for Dr. Godfrey Victor Viegas, 46 of Crystal Lake, IL, will be held at 10am Friday, July 30th with a luncheon to follow at Willow Creek Community Church, Lakeside Auditorium, 67 East Algonquin Road, South Barrington. Pastor Thomas T. Bienert will officiate. Interment will be private. Born November 8th, 1963 in Tanzania, Africa, he entered heaven on July 23, 2010 in Barrington at the Hospice Center of Northeastern Illinois. Dr. Viegas completed his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at George Washington University, his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine with Magna Cum Laude Honors at Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine and his surgical residence at University of Chicago Hospitals. Dr. Viegas practiced in Crystal Lake and Huntley as a podiatric surgeon. Dr. Viegas was on staff at Sherman Hospital and Algonquin Road Surgery Center. He was involved as a parent with Christian Youth Theater and Trinity Oaks Christian Academy of Cary. Dr. Viegas attended Willow Creek McHenry County. Dr. Viegas was published in many professional journals and text books. He lectured nationally and internationally on various topics related to his field. Dr. Viegas was a professional jazz guitarist, bassist and drummer and recorded two CD's. Dr. Viegas is survived by his wife Christine, who he married on October 17th, 1992 in Burlington, Wisconsin; his children, Victoria, Alexandria, Tristan and Adrianna; his mother, Lyra Viegas of Bethesda, Maryland; and by his sisters, Marianne Viegas and Jenilee Viegas (Jason) Lawrence. He was preceded in death by his father, Raul Viegas. Friends, colleagues, patients, CYT, TOCA, and Willow families are welcome to join the family.
