Graham "Jerry" Hoggins, 85, a lifelong resident of Barrington and was once owner of the Barrington News Agency, a regional newspaper distribution company, passed away on December 17, 2021. Jerry was a kind, loving and generous man. His charisma, great positive spirit and care for others was impossible to miss.
Jerry was a charitable man, to his family, employees, and even passerbys on the street. He had the gift of connecting and engaging with people of all walks of life. It was not unlike Jerry to meet a server at a restaurant and 10 minutes later he would know where they were from, the names of their family members, and what they were doing for the holidays. His charitable nature also extended to many causes including Parkinson’s research, JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington, and donations as a long time parishioner of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
Above all else, Jerry was an amazingly devoted and loving family man. Susan, Jerry’s wife of 60 years, was his lifeline, his love, his shining star. They lived a beautiful, blessed life together. Jerry lived for Sue and he had so much love in his heart.
His love extended to his three daughters and five grandchildren which brought so much pride and joy to his life. He was always ready to receive them with a big smile and hug.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Hoggins; children, Elizabeth, Julie (David), Karen (William); grandchildren, Graham, Justin, Isabella, Sebastian, Julian; and sister, Yvonne Mulville.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Hoggins; and mother, Elizabeth Graham Hoggins, whom he adored and was a devoted son.
He was a wonderful man with the soul of an angel, and will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched.
The family will have visitation on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 3:30pm until the time of his memorial service at 5:00pm, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 337 Ridge Road, Barrington Hills, Illinois.
