Gregory J. Cooper of the Village of Lakewood

Visitation for Gregory J. Cooper, 48, will be from 12 noon until the Celebration of Life Service at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake. A reception will follow the service at the family's home. Interment will be private. Born May 3, 1962, in Milwaukee, Wis., he passed away suddenly Saturday, July 3, 2010, at his home. Greg was a 1980 graduate of Woodstock High School and a 1984 graduate of Illinois State University with a B.S. in Industrial Technology. Initially he worked for Gallagher Bassett Services, and for the past five years he enjoyed working as the Risk Manager for Pace Suburban Bus. Spending time with his family and friends brought him the most happiness. He enjoyed coaching his children's sports teams and he was a loyal Green Bay Packers fan. Working outside in his yard while embracing nature was his relaxation. Survivors include his wife and high school sweetheart, Sue (nee Olesen), whom he married July 27, 1985, in Woodstock; a daughter, Corrissa "Cori" and a son, Camden "Cam"; a brother, Steve Cooper; sisters, Janet Akerman and Mary (Brian) Finnestad; nieces and nephews, Paige, Morgan and Spenser Finnestad, Brandon and Nicholas Akerman, and Matthew, Sarah and Kyle Olesen; father- and mother-in-law, Hank and Shari Olesen; and a brother-in-law, Hank II (Linda) Olesen. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Barbara (nee Schroeder) Cooper. Memorials to the charity of one's choice would be appreciated.
