Gregory Allen Gedonius

Gregory Allen Gedonius, 75, of Crystal Lake, passed away at home on July 3, 2022. He was born on August 12, 1946 in Evergreen Park, IL to the late Frederick and Mildred Gedonius.

On September 8, 1946, Gregory was baptized at Tabor Lutheran Evangelical Church and later had Confirmation in 1960. He was a proud Boy Scout and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He received the Lutheran Award for Boy Scouts (as first class in Scout Troop 2491) for making a bookcase and cabinet for church. He attended Gage Park High School, graduating in 1967.  While attending school, he was appointed to Cadet Sergeant on February 14, 1964 in the Reserve Officers Training Corps of CPS. He worked at F.W. Woolworth in Chicago, where he met his future wife, Karen. On April 11, 1976 they were united in marriage in Chicago. They were blessed with their daughter, Jennifer. Gregory was a Teamster in Local 777 and worked at Rudd Container Corp. for many years. He was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed NASCAR and westerns.

Gregory will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Karen; their daughter, Jennifer (David) Wasacz; and by many cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Gedonius.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 10, 2022, from 12 PM  until 4 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Graveside service and interment will be Monday, July 11, 2022 at 11 AM at Evergreen Cemetery, 3401 W 87th St, Evergreen Park, IL. Please meet at the cemetery office.
