Guy Paul Cooper Sr., 66, of Algonquin, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 5, 2014.

He was born to the late Robert Cooper and Francesca (Bruscia) Cooper, Feb. 3, 1948 in Whittier, CA. Guy graduated from La Serna High School in 1966 and received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Nevada Reno in 1973. He was married to Janis Cooper, the love of his life, in 1999.

Guy was an accomplished professional within the printing technology field, avid golfer and enjoyed traveling. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. Guy had an infectious personality, incredible sense of humor, and positive energy that would light up a room. He was a kind, passionate and generous man that will always live on in our hearts.

Guy is survived by his wife, Janis Cooper, of Algonquin, IL; five children, Abigail (Timothy) Erlandson of Austin, TX, Katie (Adam) Craven of Dixmont, ME, Natalie (Michael) Cooperman of Brooklyn, NY, Guy Paul Cooper, Jr. of Hattiesburg, MS, and stepson, Blake Holcomb of Denver, CO; and sisters, Diane (Roger) Aeschliman of Upland, CA and Valerie (Bruce) Ireland of Moodus, CT. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Matthew, Anthony, Hope, Christian and Nathan Erlandson, Madeline and Calvin Craven, and Ruby Cooperman.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, www.komen.org.

Celebration of Guy’s life will begin at 11am followed by visitation until 1pm, Thursday, April 10 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (IL Rt. 176), Crystal Lake
