Gwen was born Feb. 23, 1935 in Chicago to E.B. and Anne (nee Nelson) Otis. She passed away peacefully March 17, 2016 at her home in Woodstock.
Gwen was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake. She was a server at Martinetti’s restaurant and Turnberry Country Club, and was also a bus driver for SEDOM for 13 years. Gwen was an avid horse lover and devoted Cubs and Blackhawks fan. She loved rural living with her brothers and family as neighbors her entire life. Her true joy was the time she spent with her eight grandchildren.
Gwen is survived by her children, Bradley of Woodstock, IL, Brian (Jean) of Augusta, WI, Amy (Robert) Tegel of Huntley, IL, and Linnette Koepke of Crystal Lake, IL; grandchildren, Alexander, Thomas, Matthew, Jenny, Andrew, Erik, Brian, and Emily; great grandson, Adam Marvin Glover; brothers, James (Elaine) Otis, and Robert (Elaine) Otis, both of Crystal Lake; sister-in-law Rita Otis; daughter-in-law, Ellen Radovich of Crystal Lake; five nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Marvin; brother, Duane Otis, and her parents.
Memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, March 22, from 4-8 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (IL Rte. 176) Crystal Lake. Visitation will continue the follow day, Wednesday, March 23 from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
