Gwendolyn Ericson

Gwendolyn S. Ericson, 95, of Barrington, loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Lotus Regina Gwendolyn Schmidt was born on February 16th, 1920 in Portland Oregon, daughter of Archibald and Edythe Schmidt. She died on January 1st, 2016 at Alden Estates of Barrington.

She was united in marriage to Donald M. Ericson Sr. on July 27th 1940. Gwendolyn was formerly employed at Ericson Marine and a Mundelein newspaper as a book keeper. She was articulate with numbers, meticulously balancing her accounts monthly to the penny by hand. She enjoyed baking and reading about current events, always typing letters to stay in touch with friends and family, she was a talented dancer and pianist in her youth and loved listening to Jazz Music.

She was most passionate about genealogy, tracing her roots back to the 1800’s. She left behind an abundant collection of photo albums with copious notes on who, what, where and when. Family was her highest priority. She was happiest when we were all together.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn Ericson and Donald (Carmen) Ericson Jr., and son-in-law Myles Kunz Sr; grandchildren, Kim (Todd)Tuttle, Myles Kunz (Angel Ferriola), Donald Ericson 3rd, and Heather (Andy)Gift, Lisa(Dan)Markowski, and Christine(Tom)Graziano; she also had 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald M. Ericson Sr., her brother Melvin Schmidt, her first born Daughter Lucille Kunz and Grandson Michael Kunz.

Gwen’s family extends lavish gratitude to all who cared for her at Alden Estates.

A private family celebration of Gwen’s life will be held on her birthday in February.
