H. Joan White

Joan White (nee Bickmore), age 81, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2014 three days shy of her 61st wedding anniversary to devoted husband, Gordon. Born and raised in Colorado, Joan had a strong love of the outdoors. She enjoyed playing many sports including golf, tennis, bowling, cross-country skiing,and hiking. Even more than the sports themselves, she cherished the opportunity to spend time with her friends and companions. A long time employee of the Lake Forest Public Library, Joan loved to read, travel, garden and play bridge with her fellow sorority sisters. She was a constant supporter of her children Jeff (Trisha) White and Debbie (David) Hrobon and truly the most loving grandmother ever to Julia, Rachel, Brian, and Lucas. The family wishes to thank her outstanding doctor, Ira Piel, and the caregivers who supported her through her battle with cancer. An open-house Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held at Glen Rowan House of Lake Forest College, 500 N. Sheridan Rd, Lake Forest on Monday July 7th from 3-5:30 pm. In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society. Burial will be held in Breckenridge, Colorado.
