Hans Juergen Wolter, age 79, of Wheeling, IL passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Christ on March 31, 2025.
Hans was born in Bleichenbach, Germany on June 7, 1945. He was a Groundskeeper / Janitor for River Trails Grade School in Mt. Prospect for many years before retiring in 2014. Although he was a quiet man by nature, he enjoyed being with family and friends BB-Qing his favorite foods and enjoying a good conversation around the table. He was quite the outdoorsman and loved spending time on his boat relaxing, enjoying a picnic and soaking up the sunshine with family and friends. He also was adventurous at times and kept people on their toes when he and a work colleague challenged each other and went sky-diving together. (We have a video of it somewhere).
Hans is survived by his loving daughters, Alice Wolter and Sarah Riha; his son, Robert Wolter; and grandsons Caleb Wolter and Tanner Wolter. He is also survived by his loving sisters Rita Forsman and Annie (David) Simmons; as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 21 years, Fran Riha-Wolter; and brother-in-law Paul Forsman.
A visitation for Hans will be held from 10am until the time of service at 11:30am in the committal chapel at Windridge Memorial Park, 7014 S Rawson Bridge Rd, Cary, IL 60013. Burial to follow immediately after.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Hans’s name may be made to a charity he felt strongly about:
