Harlan Dean Moore, Jr.,60, of Richton Park and formerly of Marengo, peacefully passed away at his home on Sunday, September 16, 2012.

Born on December 8, 1951 in Elgin, he was the son of Harlan, Sr. and Lois (nee Kennedy) Moore.  Harlan attended Barrington High School and later proudly served in the United States Marine Corp.

For over 30 years he worked as a licensed professional land surveyor.  He was a published author and loved astronomy and geology.  Harlan had an insatiable quest for knowledge and a unique sense of humor.

He is survived by his children, Deborah Moore, Janet Moore, and Harlan Dean Moore III; his former wife Jean Moore; his parents; and his sister, Melissa (Terry Oates) Moore

The visitation will be from 10am until the memorial service at 11am, Thursday, September 20 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (IL Rt. 176), Crystal Lake.  Pastor Randy Thompson will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
