Harold “Hal” Wajrowski, 84, of Crystal Lake, passed away Monday, November 17, 2014 at JourneyCare in Woodstock.
He was born February 2, 1930 in Chicago to the late Frank and Jennie (nee Paszek) Wajrowski. He married Shirley Rothermel on November 22, 1952 in Chicago.
Hal began his teaching career for District 47 in 1953 and later became principal of North Elementary School in 1967, retiring in 1991. He loved working with the faculty, students, and community.
Hal enjoyed traveling with his wife, Shirley, and was an avid sports fan.
Survivors include his wife of almost 62 years, Shirley; children, David (Nancy) of Waukegan, Pam (John) McMahon of Crystal Lake, Mark (Roberta) of Crystal Lake, and Jim of LaSalle; grandchildren, Jacob Bishop, Margaret (Andy) Skibley, Amanda (Joe) Stuber, Adam and Katherine Wajrowski, Amy Liggett, Sara (William) Maass, Tim McMahon, Nina, Luke, Lisa, and Joseph Wajrowski, and Brandon (Carissa) Duffin; great grandchildren, Conner Liggett and Ava Skibley; sisters, Ruth Schandag and Connie (Frank) Pixley.
Hal was preceded in death by his daughter, Shari Bishop; daughter-in-law, Julie Wajrowski; and brother-in-law, Hank Schandag.
The visitation will be from 4-8 pm, Friday, November 21 at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake.
There will also be visitation Saturday, November 22, from 10 am until the time of funeral service at 11 am at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
