Harper Jane Backe

Harper Jane Backe passed away peacefully in her sleep at home, on May 28, 2022. She was born on May 12, 2015 to Trace Backe and Megan Stafiej.

Although only 7 years old, Harper left an impression to all that met her. She had an infectious laugh and the biggest smile. Even though she was nonverbal, Harper was full of sass and personality and love watching and dancing to her favorite train show, Chuggington.

She went to Prairie Wood Elementary – her friends from school will always be in our hearts. The family wishes to express how deeply appreciative they are of the love and care that Harper received at school from her teachers and classmates.

She loved her brothers and was a big sister full of cuddles and hugs. She was a homebody and was happiest being at home, but she also absolutely loved water, the ocean, fish and trains.

Those left to cherish Harper’s memories, in addition to her parents, are her brothers, Bradley and Brooks; Uncle, Cade Backe; Grandparents, Lisa Sullivan, Paul and Mary Stafiej, Heather and Nick Backe.

She was preceded in death by her great grandfathers, Donald Scheve and Stanley Stafiej; her “special grandma”, Sandi Kavanagh; and her school friend, Kaidence.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 10 AM until the Celebration of Life service at 12 Noon at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Interment will be private.
