Harry Kranz

Harry F. Kranz, 95, of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 5, 2017. He was born on September 19, 1921 in Chicago to Frank and Teresa (nee Miskiewicz) Kranz.

Harry was a WWII Army Veteran who fought on islands in the Pacific and in the Philippines. He was also a member of the occupation troops in Japan. He served in the Army for three and a half years. Harry was a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1946. He worked as a butcher for various businesses for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Marcella (nee Pachucki) Kranz; his children, Richard (Carol) Kranz, Judy (John) Mehan, and Cynthia (Justin) Barr. His grandchildren, Jessica and Jeffrey Mehan; Allison (Abadir Ibrahim), Ashley, and Elise Kranz; and Christopher, Andrea and Kimberly Barr. His great grandchildren, Samantha, James, and Chandler. His great, great grandchild, Kaden. He is survived by his brother, Edmund (Lois) Kranz.

He is preceded in death by his siblings, Chester Kranz and Wanda Mazure; and his parents.

The family will receive guests from 3-8 pm Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 9:30 am Monday, January 9, 2017, proceeding to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014 for a funeral Mass at 10 am. Burial will take place at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.

In lieu of flowers, Mass cards are appreciated.
