Hazel Woolard

Hazel C. Johnson-Woolard, born March 13, 1963 in Waukegan, Illinois, passed quietly in her sleep after a hard-fought battle with cancer on November 29, 2015 in Lake in the Hills, Illinois.
She is survived by her son, Michael Swirniak; parents, Joseph and Carol Johnson, Sr.; siblings, Marty (Sharon) Johnson, Barb (Steve) Miller, JoAnn Johnson, Joseph (Traci) Johnson, Jr.; nephews and nieces, Randy, Max, Eric, Dana, Lauren, Paul, Holly, Matt, Marrissa and many more second nieces and nephews. Hazel was not only a devoted mother to Michael; she was also highly devoted to all the children in the family.
Hazel worked at L&V distributors for 16 years, if she wasn’t working there, you could find her bartending either at the Cottage or Brink Street in Crystal Lake. While working those jobs she was able to build lasting relationships with many other people. Many of the people became lifelong friends. On her free time she enjoyed doing her arts and crafts. She was especially skilled at ceramics. Which through this hobby she made many more lifelong friends.
Hazel was a fun, loving, caring person who always made everyone laugh. She was always the life of the party and had a laugh you could not resist that resonated through the room. When you needed her, she was there. She was the type of person who would kick you in the butt when it was needed but give you a hug at the same time.
She has impacted many lives from childhood friends to the friends she gained when she moved out to Lake in the Hills. She will be deeply missed by many, many people.
A special thanks to friends that were there for her through the beginning and the end. An extra special thanks to Kari and Cleon, Karla and Jason, Gina and Joe, Michelle and Snappy, Donna and Adam, and Bonnie.
For anyone we might have missed, you are not forgotten.

Memorial visitation will be Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 11 AM until 3PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be greatly appreciated.
