Helen Hogan Heintz, age 86, died at the Lexington HealthCare Center in Wheeling, IL on Sunday, January 1,2012, following a brief illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights,60006, where visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the mass. Burial will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine.
She was born April 3,1925, in Dubuque, IA to the late Marjorie O’Keefe Hogan and William Hogan. She attended grade school in Waterloo, IA and graduated from the Villa Maria Academy in Frontenac, MN. While dating her future husband, she attended Rosary College in River Forest, IL. On July 3,1944, James Heintz and Helen Hogan were united in marriage at the Sunnyside Country Club in Waterloo, IA.
Helen and Jim had four children born to their loving marriage. After many years of residing in Waterloo and Burlington, IA, they moved to Inverness, IL in 1965. In addition to her responsibilities as a mother and a house wife, Helen joined Jim in breeding and exhibiting Bedlington Terriers. In the course of this activity, they developed many lifelong friendships. Helen ceased breeding Bedlington Terriers in 1991 following Jim’s passing. For the next twenty years, Helen pursued a variety of activities with her numerous friends and her adult children.
Helen is survived by her son, Eric (Kaye), daughter, Kristin (Deed), and son Kurt(Maurice), as well as numerous grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, daughter, Joan, two sisters, Patricia and Matyne, and her brother, John.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Jan 6, at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights,60006, where visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the mass at 11 a.m.. Burial will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Helen's memory to the American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation, PO Box 900061, Raleigh, NC,27617, 1-888-682-9696 or the Bedlington Terrier Club of America Donor Advised Fund.
Her children gratefully thank the Lexington Health Care Center in Wheeling, IL for their competent and thoughtful care rendered to our Mother during her final illness.
