Helga B. Muller, 79, was born in the house of her parents, Martin and Anna Helwig, in Lorsch, Germany on July 18, 1939. She passed away Monday, October 29, 2018 in Crystal Lake.
Helga finished a higher level education by attending a Gymnasium in Germany. She migrated to the United States around 1960 and met her husband, Franz Muller, through Hansa Club soccer in Chicago. Helga and Franz married at St. Alphonsus Church in Chicago on March 18, 1961. They had two daughters, Linda and Christine. Helga and Franz were members of D.A.N.K (German American National Congress). Their daughters were enrolled in German School through D.A.N.K and visited their relatives in Germany often.
For about seven years, Helga was an Avon salesperson, in addition to being a homemaker. She was a very charitable person who donated to cancer foundations, Alzheimers, Special Olympics, World Wildlife Foundation, among others. She loved travelling, bowling, tennis, sewing and embroidery, flowers and gardening. Her favorite flower was the bleeding heart.
Helga is survived by her daughters, Linda (Patrick) Griffin, and Christine (Rick) Bjorkquist; her grandchildren, Jamie and Kyle Griffin; and her great grandchildren, Jaylynn and Aaliyah.
