Helmtraut "Helen" Edith (nee Kupski) Wambach, age 81, died on Jan. 27, 2025, in Barrington, IL.
Helen was born April 30, 1943, in Kutno, Poland. She attended Amundsen High School and Amundsen Junior College in Chicago. She dedicated many years to raising her children before working in Gourmet Foods at Marshall Field's and then Macy's. Helen was thoughtful, kind and generous, traits that endeared her to all who knew her. She was a remarkable cook and baker and enjoyed hosting holiday events for her family. Helen was a longstanding member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
Beloved wife of Adam Wambach, married for over 60 years. Cherished sister of Arnold, Hildegard, Hedwig, and Lillie. Loving mother to her son James Wambach and his wife Mindy, her daughter Jennifer and her husband Phillip Cuculich. Her grandchildren Carter, Casey, Ava, Bennett, Reid, and Grant were the joy of her life.
A visitation for Helen will be held from 4pm until 8pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington, IL 60010. A second visitation will be held the following morning from 10am until the time of service at 11am at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 720 Dundee Ave, Barrington, IL 60010. Entombment to follow at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery in Palatine, IL.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Matthew Church. Helen leaves a legacy of love, kindness and devotion, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
