Herbert John Hartz, Jr, 88, of Sheffield, IL passed away peacefully on May 24, 2016. He was born on July 22, 1927 in Princeton, IL to Herbert Sr. and Cora (nee Debates) Hartz.
Herbert was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served as a Lieutenant during the Korean War. He was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Manlius, IL; Ames Masonic Lodge and Sheffield Pride, past post commander for Sheffield American Legion, past president of Sheffield Lions Club and Sheffield Homecoming Association.
Herbert will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 63 years, Joanne (nee Hurley), with whom he was united in marriage on November 9, 1952 in Manlius, IL; his daughter Jeanne (Steven) Cliff of Barrington; granddaughters, Hannah and Caroline Cliff. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Hartz.
A memorial visitation will begin at 11:30a.m. followed by the memorial service at 12:30p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 202 S. 4th Street, Manlius, IL 61338.
