Herbert Erich Massat

Herbert Erich Massat, age 93, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 12, 2024. He was born in Norwieden, East Prussia on March 7, 1931. 

Herbert and his late wife, Margot, loved to travel. Their adventures took them around the world, rarely landing in the same place twice while creating lifelong memories along the way. He was a true master of all trades. He had the ability to fix the unfixable and could always be found tinkering with things around the house or working on exciting new projects. Above all else, Hebert was a dedicated family man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Herbert is survived by his sons, Gerhard, Erich, and Robert; daughter-in-law, Alla; grandchildren, Trueman, Joi, Krista, Nicole, Ben, and Tony; his brother Werner (Gretel) and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Herbert will be held from 9am until the time of service at 11am on Saturday August 17, 2024, at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047. Entombment to follow at Ascension Catholic Cemetery in Libertyville, IL.
