Hildegarde E. Lipinski died July 10 2010 at Lexington Nursing Home under the care of hospice. Hildegarde was born in Berlin, WI. January 9, 1918, the daughter of Fred and Emma Bahr. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and attended St. John?s grade school. She graduated from Berlin high School in 1936, where she excelled in Forensics, winning the League Division in her Junior and Senior years. She also sang and acted in all the high school dramas and musicals. Hildegarde married her classmate Robert (Bob) Lipinski on October 25, 1941. They owned and operated, in Berlin, Bob?s Grocery for ten years. While living in Berlin, Hildegarde was active as a Girl Scout leader, member of the Berlin Library Board and was active in the Democratic Party. She hosted the reception in 1960 of Robert F. Kennedy?s visit to Berlin campaigning for his brother John. In 1961 Hildegarde and her family moved to Oshkosh and she became a member of the State?s Historical Society and the Oshkosh Public Library. After Bob?s death, she became involved in the Oshkosh Library?s literacy initiative. She became a member of the Evergreen Retirement Community Auxiliary and volunteered there until her move to Illinois in 1999. Hildegarde enjoyed reading, sewing, traveling and studying the history of Wisconsin and visiting State Parks and historical communities. Her last years were spent at Eastgate Manor, a retirement community in Algonquin, Ill. Her daughters survive her: Marlene (Karen Simon-Leff) Lipinski, Lake in the Hills, IL, Marcie (John) Toups, Tyler, TX, and Mary (Richard) Madden, Oshkosh, WI. She is further survived by four grandchildren, Mike (Susan) Mote, Golden, CO, David (Elaine) Mote, Tyler TX, Jim (Mary) Madden, Sheboygan Falls, WI, and Deb (Keith) Wolfgram, Wausau, WI, nine great grandchildren, and two sisters-in-law. Her husband, parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. There will be no funeral services by Hildegarde?s wishes. Private interment services will be held at a later date.
